Our first and most important function is helping a family office identify, assess and prioritize investment related needs. Every client's needs are different. One family member may require a fixed amount of cash every year; another may have a taxable event that may need to be offset through realizing certain losses within the portfolio. At the same time, every participating family member’s expectations are different – some are attainable, others are perhaps not as realistic given their own risk parameters, income needs and market realities.
We begin by evaluating the current portfolio, its financial performance and the underlying managers being used. The due diligence process evolves until we can confidently say that we understand every element associated with the portfolio and the organization’s spending objectives. This upfront research ultimately reaps enormous rewards for our family office clients.
